Austin Halvorson*

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Austin Halvorson serves as Director of Strategic Initiatives to Chris Gober and helps manage various operations at Lex Politica. During the 2021 Texas legislative session, Austin worked for the Texas Senate Committee on Health and Human Services under the chairmanship of Senator Lois Kolkhorst. In this role, he analyzed bills referred to the committee, provided legislative recommendations to committee members, and met with stakeholders to craft legislation. From August 2018 – January 2021, Austin served as District Director to a former member of the Texas House of Representatives.

In addition to his experience working for the Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives, Austin has gained valuable experience as a political operative. He has served as Campaign Manager in a high-profile race for state representative and as a Field Representative for the Harris County Republican Party.

Austin is a 2018 graduate of Texas A&M University-College Station. During his time at Texas A&M, Austin served as an Alumni Relations Student Assistant for the Department of Agricultural Economics and interned for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture and a Texas-based government affairs firm.

He is active in Rodeo Austin and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), and he has served on AQHA’s Public Policy Committee and as President of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association. Austin loves to attend horse shows, rodeos, and other western sports.
